Mike! Window motor question.
I'm replacing the passenger side motor and I was a bit confused reading yours and midnight's write-up. For the passenger side, is the below pic the correct way to put the regulator in the vise?

Yes.
Sorry about the confusion. :) I need to rework the article some to make it more clear. |
Crap! I got the motor changed out with no hassles. But, when I tried to get the damn thing back in, I couldn't get the alignment bolts back through. After 30 mins. of wrestling and cutting my arm up, I thought maybe the window wasn't all the way up. I'm pissed off at this point and decided to try and jogged the window up alittle. :( ( I know, an idiotic move at the time!) Well, the motor turned alittle and quit! I think I burned it up?? It has a lifetime warranty, so I take it back to Autozone and exchange Sunday. This sucks bigtime. Slashed my thumb knuckle pretty good too... :)
sorry, had to vent, and my wife isn't here.... |
Hey guys,
I found a way to cheat on the window motor thing. I popped off two of the three round plastic guides that are on the end of the regulator. They are a little tough to get off but they eventually did. I took off the one that was attached to the regulator arm that slides into the channel on the door and then one on one of the window arms. I then just slid the plastic guides into the tracks. Then I used a pair of channel locks to snap the plastic guides back into place. It was fast and a swore a lot less! I wondered if anyone else has done it this way? Mike H |
Would running the motor unbolted to the door burn it up? Need some suggestions on how to get the bolt lined back up. Please excuse my craptastic pic. :D

You will need to move the regulator. It looks like it slipped on you. No, it won't hurt to run the motor if it's not bolted in. Just don't get you fingers in the gear. :)
From your drawing, it won't take much get it in the hole. |
