manual to power brake conversion stick truck
 

My latest creation is a 74 stepside made out of parts that I had or came with the chasis or from my donor 79 c20
Heres the question

The cab I had was originally a manual brake cab. The reason I say this is because every one of the cabs ive seen with the power brake setup they have an extra couple of studs in the upper part of the mounting for the brake assemvbly . This cab does not.

My questions are as follows as I am havng problems finding the brake linkages
Can I just install the brake booster/master from the 79 into this truck and leave out the two top bolts?

I need to change the pedal assembly in this truck from a automatic to a 3 speed stick setup.. Will the linkages be different there for the brake pedal?
Lastly will I need to change the rotors calipers drums and rear brake assemblies because of the change of setup?

Actually the power and hydro boosters are available with both patterns from my recent experience of getting a replacement hydroboost. Parts store had listings for 4 bolt and 6 (H) pattern boosters. The brake rod that attaches to the pedal should be matched to the booster/master you use because there are different lengths but you should be able to use all the parts and swap them straight across. The brakes should work fine but may need a manual adjuster put in to dial brake pressure down to the rears front discs shouldn't need to change anything.

I did a manual to power brake upgrade a few months ago on a 77 and I just used the 4 bolts. Also, I had to change out the brake pedal because the hole for the rod is a different diameter between manual and power brakes.
