ECE vs Hotckis Springs
The rear of my 67 Stepper is dropped already with an ECE kit however I am looking to put in some 6" springs. I hear good things about ECE customer service.
I am looking for input on spring quality. Who has ran these springs? ECE drop springs are $114.00. http://www.earlyclassic.com/catalog.aspx Hotchkis drop springs are $213.95. http://www.hotchkis.net/6772-c10-rea...l-springs.html |
Re: ECE vs Hotckis Springs
I would run ece springs, hotchkis springs have the name that shoots the price up. Most people have ran ece springs with no complaints. To get the full benefits of hotchkis I'd assume you would have to run their control arms an such which easily makes the price skyrocket. I'd go with ece, others will chime in

Re: ECE vs Hotckis Springs
I've never seen anything but top notch quality from ECE, on their parts and service!

Re: ECE vs Hotckis Springs
Hotchkis is performance suspension. Unless you run the track in your truck there is no reason to spend the $$$. Ece products are top notch.

They are more stiff to my knowledge.

Re: ECE vs Hotckis Springs
I've used both. I had 5" ECE springs for a long time, then switched to Hotchkis 6" springs about a year ago. The Hotchkis springs have a different load strength. They seem to be a progressive spring as they actually ride a bit softer until compressed more, where the ECE springs were a bit "bouncy". I autocross and drive my truck hard, so I personally like the Hotchkis springs, and they seemed to help traction a bit due to the different load rating. Not to discredit ECE at all, though. They still make and carry high quality components that I would still buy and use on a good cruiser or mild performance build.
For my truck, though, I'm leaning more toward track oriented performance, and updated suspension geometry is where I'm looking for my next purchases. Technology has come a long way since the 60's- early 70's so there's lots of room for improvement. |
