Steering columns
I have kind of a hodge-podge of different year parts in my truck just because of it being a literal basket case, so I wanted to find out for sure what year column I have. What are the differences between the years? From what I have found, for the non-tilts there is a 67-68 version and a 69-72 version. I think I have a later version because I had to extend my intermediate shaft to fit, and it was from a '70. The shift arms are different 67-68, 69-70, and 71-72 in the catalogs, which I gather is the length. I'm guessing that's the only difference?
So basically how do I ID my column so I know exactly what I have? Need to get some parts so I want to make sure I get the right stuff. |
Re: Steering columns
If the part numbers are different you could be right. I always thought 67/68 length of the intermediate shaft was just different. And the columns were all the same on the automatics with the exceptions of tilt and of course manual column shift.
Maybe you can post a pic someone can compare them. I have a non tilt auto in my 67 I can look it over. |
