Tail Light Trim Mounting Question...HELP!
Heres my question(s) for the experts:
How many holes are drilled around the tail light opening for the clips that hold the trim on? And what size are the holes? SLS has attached this image: http://home.comcast.net/~hifiparty/taillight.jpg Are these holes even in the correct places???? As you can see, the bed I am replacing has 3 holes on one side...and 4 holes on the other. Also, a 3/8 drill bit is a hair to large to fit in these holes...but a 5/16 fits in them with a little bit of wiggle room to spare. This bed came to me this way (no clips or trim)...so I don't really know if it is correct to begin with. The bed I recently bought has NO trim mounting holes, and I'll have to do a bit of straightening around one of the openings, but being that this truck is a Custom Deluxe I want to put the tail light trim back on it. Any insight into this piece of my little puzzle would be appreciated! :) |
The three matching holes are correct...the odd ball on the right is probably from a screw that held the trim on after the clips failed...very common practice!

My 72 has the four on the right hand side.

Thanks, guys!
Looks like it depended on who was drilling that day at the factory? Some 3, and some 4??? Anyone else? How about the size of the holes? |
