Speaker placement for stock tank

Anyone have a decent sound system in their ride with the stock gas tank still? All I have is the speakers on the kick panels and they sound like crap, I don't need to be thumping down the road but I'd like to hear some ideas or thoughts on a nice sounding system without any fabrication. Pics and speaker details are greatly appreciated Thanks!

In my '70 I build two speaker boxes out of some 3/4 ply. I ran the wires under my floor mat and the speakers just rest under the seat. Maybe not the best method but it seems to work well.
