Right front emblem

I read yesterday somewhere....? that the right front emblems on our 1972 trucks were put on out of alignment. I went out and looked at my Blazer and sure enough it was crooked. Whats up with this??

More information
How did this happen? Strange but true. The 1971-1972 right front Chevrolet pickup fender has one of its two 350 emblem holes punched incorrectly. This causes the horizontal emblem to slope down at the rear. The left fender is correct. The person that owns this all original 1972 truck states that all 1971-1972 Chevrolet trucks have this unusual feature. You can always recognize an aftermarket replacement fender. Their holes are correctly placed. |
Re: Right front emblem
Never new this. I'll have to
Look closer at mine. |
Re: Right front emblem
Maybe by '72, the fender stamp machine was well worn?, that's if the stamp put theses holes in during that process?, My 2 cents.

Re: Right front emblem
That's a good idea. Maybe the stamper was worn So It wasn't putting a clean press thru the fender. You think They woulda caught that in quality control.

Re: Right front emblem
Just my opinion, pretty sure the factories were in full 1973 mode.

Time to Carve the turkey...

Re: Right front emblem
Yeah I'm sure they were too worried about retooling all the factories at that point to replace the old machines.
