cpp stands/mounts/sliders

does the motor need to be perfectly centered and level to get both of the long mount bolts to line up or am i just a lil retarded? lol driver side sets down and can get the bolt through but the passenger side bottoms out about an inch above the hole -_-

Re: cpp stands/mounts/sliders

I ran in to this too. Check out my build thread. I ended up having to mill my adapter plates down to about 5/16" or a tad less. Don't waste your time calling CPP. I wasn't using their adapter plates and mine were 3/8" thick to start with. Mine aren't sliders but are the Ebay 3 position plates. Pretty sure all this is in my build thread "His 1969 stepside build" . Let me know if you can't find it.

And be sure to grind the hump down on the back of the motor mounts if it has a ridge running right down the middle! Get the back of it flat.

Re: cpp stands/mounts/sliders

I didn't have that problem but my motor was 1/2 inch off on the drivers side to the passenger side. I had to break all the mounts loose after I hung the transmission and pull the motor over and tighten it all back down. Also there swap cross member for the transmission wouldn't fit. I had to use my 700r4 cross member from bowtie over drives. Not really impressed with cpp right now.

cool joey, i'll look into it.

and you're runnin the same exact setup elimontfort?? i still have the same th400 trans member so we shall see how it lines up after...im just worrying about the motor for the time being.

Re: cpp stands/mounts/sliders

Ok got it. No I didn't have that problem just the problem I stated. Are you running the full swap kit from cpp? if you are do like joey said and make sure the rubber mounts are sitting flat against the adapter plates. The mounts have a hump in them that needs to be notched for the adapter plates. in my case I had to grind that hump all the way down.

Re: cpp stands/mounts/sliders

Check out his build thread. They sent him motor mounts that look like solid motor mounts but I think there is some rubber in there, but it's nothing like a typical motor mount. And there's a metal plate behind the motor mount. He's going to toss the metal plate and just bolt the motor mounts to the sliders.
Surely somebody has ran this CPP set up. Brian?
I only did CPP stands and then used typical GM car motor mounts 1959-1970's, and then some Ebay 3 position adapter plates that I had to mill down to just under 5/16" thick.

Re: cpp stands/mounts/sliders

I'm using the whole swap kit from cpp it came with the perches the mounts and the adapter plates. The mounts are like you said the rubber ones with the backing plates like the old sbc mounts. I didn't have to mill anything down just ground the humps off the sbc mounts and it all went in level.

Re: cpp stands/mounts/sliders

i'm going to remove the plate that came with the poly mounts and retry. pretty sure i should be ok then. couldnt test fit this past weekend due to crappy weather...will try again this weekend.
