First square body/project

This is my first square body, It's a 85 k10,700r4/208.It needs plenty of work. Starting with it probably needs a new transmission,When i bought it as i was driving home i lost 3 gear. Wouldn't even go into fourth. When i got home i noticed that the tv cable was not hooked up. Hopefully i caught it in time. Next problem is the rust, the rockers are pretty much gone. Including the passenger side door. The engine runs great though. Originally a 305 truck but now has a mildly built 350. Fuel gauge doesn't work. The bedsides are loose near the tailgate has a ratchet strap holding the bed tight so the tailgate can close. There probably wont be much progress on this build since i'm 17 and on a super tight budget.:waah:

Got the TV cable attached, just as i thought no third of fourth. So now I'm on the hunt for a 700r4.

The transmission sounds like symptoms of worn 3/4 clutch pack. The transmission probably is shifting into 3 just fine but the clutches aren't grabbing.
If you are on a tight budget try to just replace the 3/4 clutch pack & steels yourself. Ask around where you live see if there is someone that could maybe give you a hand and buy yourself a haynes GM rebuild manual.

As I remember with the transmission out of the vehicle. Drop the pan, remove the lockup solenoid, pull the pump out and the clutch baskets are right there behind the pump. Throw some new steels/clutches in the 3/4 basket slam it back together (the same way it came apart lol) with a couple of gaskets/seals/fluid and give it a try? What do you have to lose other than a bit of time? Lots of good pictures and info on the net on 700r4's with detailed step by step.

Got the transmission removed today. As the first transmission i've taking out it wasn't as hard as i thought.

I wouldn't call it a good looking truck. It has a lot of room for improvement.
