Re: floor shifter
I had a Trans Am with a quick silver in it. That shifter was awesome. Never had a single issue with it. You'll probably get tired of leaning down to reach for it in a truck though unless you can mount it up on a center console or some sort of platform

Re: floor shifter
thats what I thought. the promatic comes in a truck version. the stick is like 6 inches longer than the standard version.

Re: floor shifter
I have an 84 and my son's 86 both have a B&M truck Megashifter. I chose those for a couple reasons. The first being that they set high enough to be comfortable from the driver's seat and two they have a definite reverse lock out that works well. I removed the "T" handle from them and used a round B&M shift ball on them, to make it comfortable for me. I also had a Megashifter in my 91 Silverado and it worked fine, withut issue.

Re: floor shifter
My 88 burb had a promatic installed by a previous owner. It worked fine and was always fun to have to explain to people how to shift it at the tire shop etc. Only advice is watch cable routing if it is a cable shifter, I learned the hard way when exhaust melted the sheathing and had to shift by hand to get home but replaced cable and rerouted away from exhaust like whoever put it in originally.

Re: floor shifter
do you guys have pics? mattybilt79 was your the truck or standerd length?

Re: floor shifter
The one in the burb I had was a short car length shifter. It was mounted next to the t-case shifter on the hump, had to kind of reach down and forward to shift it. Unfortunately don't have any pics sold the burb last year.

I put the taller version of the pro-matic2 in my '86. I just got the truck running, so I havent really had the chance to put it through it's paces, but I love it. It sits nice and high, but not ridiculously high. Here's a crappy cell phone pic
