What carb base gasket should I use?

I did not realize I would have to give a second thought to which base gasket to use with a Holley 4160 carburetor and the Weiand 8120 intake manifold, but now I see there are at least three choices.

This is what the intake looks like and the three base gaskets.

A. 108-10 one square hole

B. 108-18 two oval holes

C. 108-58 four round holes

Which one would you recommend and why? Please be kind I am honestly trying to learn something here as I honestly do not know the benefits or limits of each?

Match the intake manifold. Single plain uses the open style, dual plane the split. Usually only the old school or stock replacement style manifolds use the 4 hole.

Thank you Holley Tech Support gave me the same recommend, see below.

"Hello,

Thank you for contacting Holley Performance Products. Personally I would suggest an open plenum gasket - 108-10.

Sincerely,
Colin Kinser
Holley Technical Service"

throw a 1" phenolic carb spacer on there while you're at it ;)

you know me and a buddy of mine were at this place in town called Tognotti's Auto World and he said the same thing, I honestly don't know what the pros or cons of such implement are yet so I don't want to get a hernia trying to figure it out, that and start WWW III with a discussion here about those things, LOL

well, not trying to spark any debates, but it solved a hot start issue with my truck after converting to an aluminum intake and edelbrock carb. the carb would get "heat soaked" after shutting it off for say 30 mins to an hour. I know you're going with a Holley (I spied on your build thread haha) but I'm sure the materials used to cast the carb body are similar.
Anyway, I tried the 1" phenolic spacer (4-hole) and *Poof* problem solved ;)
plus, it did add a little power off the line...

I would call the tech support of the company that made the manifold , not the carb manufacturer .
If it was me ,I'd use gasket 2 as it's a dual plane manifold .

Gmc guy is on point a carb spacer can save you from having heat soak in the summer.

I'm with you, so I emailed Holley/Weiand Tech Support back and they replied:

"That gasket will work fine also."

Kinda wishy washy if you ask me, I am the type of guy who wants to know why or why not or what the benefits are of each, know what I mean. I likes to learn.

If keeping the planes separated did not matter, there would be no reason to run the separator on the manifold all the way up to the carb base. Use the split gasket (#2) or the four-holer (#3).

Or you can buy a heat shield for your carb. I had to trim a little off the front due to the thermostat housing but here on the coast when it gets hot it helps a lot.

I concur, so I ordered the 108-18
