Same Old Rim Swap Question

i have done some looking around on this site as well other sites and there just doesn't seem to be a clear answer. So throwing this out there to see what the guys might have for suggestion.

Truck 1949 Chevy 3600 3/4 ton. I am keeping it as a rat rod with origanal power train and that patinia.

This truck has the 10 lug split rims that i have quickly learned that they are not easily serviced. So i want to put on some solid rims. Not looking for fancy rims but love the stealies. When i say stealies not the ones on a 1 ton.

Any options. i can change rim size and tire size if i need too. Current tire size is 700 r15's

Being a 3600, it should be an 8 lug and not 10 lug.

1980's/90's Ford rims work very well on the old trucks. Don't use any truck rims from 97 and newer, they are a wider pattern. Any 8 lug van rim should be fine.

Thanks Whitedog. Yeah i went and rechecked and they are 8 lug. Don't know what the hell i was thinking.

GM, Dodge and Ford all had the same size 8 lug bolt pattern. The difference is in the size of the center hole.

Measure the center hole in one of your rims and with that go rim hunting.

I have some 77 Ford 8 lugs on the 8 lug Dana 68 axle that is going under my 71 GMC 3/4 ton to replace the stump puller gears. They were freebies when my mom put new white spokes on her 77 Ford a couple of years ago.

ok gang i found some rims. Friend had a set of 93 fords. Fits on the lugs and center perfectly. Now one i have on i have a small clearance issue with the tie rod end. It only catches on the inner wheel weight. So my thought is i need to put in new lugs anyway, just put in longer ones and then add a wheel spacer to get what i need.

Thoughts?
