64 C-10 Newbie
Hello, My name is Bruce and I have been lurking for some time now. I have owned a few 1969 and 1971 C-10’s in the past but nothing recently. For some reason 64-66 trucks have been calling my name recently. So I sold my 69 Chevelle and purchased a 64 C-10 SWB. The truck is a solid survivor that has been pointed in the direction I wanted to go by the PO. LOW! The truck has a 2” Z ed frame and bagged. Other than that it’s a bone stock truck. There are a few things I need to do, like fresh wood in the bed. (Gaping hole). And fix the rear main seal leak. I may get the urge to V8 it and disc brake it soon but I think I might drive it a bit before I get to involved.

Re: 64 C-10 Newbie
Welcome to the forum! You know those straight 6's can be hopped up and make double the power. I'd look into it, neat stuff. Would like some pictures of the engine though. :chevy:

I have nothing against the I6's but that guy on the stand looks so lonely. I think he needs some attention and a new home :)

Re: 64 C-10 Newbie
Putting in my two cents. That motor is two pretty to be sitting on a stand in your garage. I just swapped mine to a sbc350 and love it. One piece of advice I would give you is be careful with those beautiful tall valve covers. I've got some on mine and had to dent the drivers side firewall in order to make them fit. Not a lot, just a little dent because of the taller valve covers as well as the taller gaskets. It looks like you have the rubber/steel gaskets so just be careful so you don't scratch those babies up like I did mine.

Re: 64 C-10 Newbie
Bruce,
About the L6 you have in there . . . Any issues with fuel boiling out of the carb with the way you have fuel lines routed and the filter? Is the intake a little wet with gas in the photo? I'm not picking on your truck, honest! . . . . . I'm just looking into options for my 250ci. Jay |
Re: 64 C-10 Newbie
Jay,
I have not driven it enough to know if the fuel boils, I do know the carb leaks, I also know that if the L6 stays the fuel filter will move to another location and there will be no rubber lines by the exhaust. |
Re: 64 C-10 Newbie
Ordered some KYB shocks from amazon last week. Thanks to a thread I read on this site. Also removed the rotten wood bed this week. Installed the shocks Friday night.

Re: 64 C-10 Newbie
Got my bed back in shape. Sealed it with some spar polyurethane, then some black Rust-Oleum. May give it one more coat to cover the hardware.
