Factory vinyl top revisited-Interesting!!

The question was raised a few weeks ago about our trucks being fitted from the factory with vinyl tops. Well, I have a large collection of old dealer brochures and magazine ads. I noticed this ad for a 69 GMC Sierra Grande which is very interesting. Note that the truck has the factory bed tonneau cover. Look at the top of the cab in the 2nd picture. I'm almost positive these trucks did not come with a 2-tone color combo with black on the top. Also note how the black is not on the A-pillar or roof edge. Looks to me to be vinyl. What do you guys think?????

I have seen lots of GMCs with the roof a different color in combo's you don't see in Chevy's. My GMC was Olive green with a yukkie color green roof and it had all the trim, really weird looking.

I've seen them with the top portion falling back down to the bed painted white, but never black...very interesting. I doubt we'll ever answer this one for sure.:(

Even on the chevy trucks, you could get any color avalible in any combo...
I think the vinyl top thing may have existed...but it was farmed out to be done and that is why there is no official records of it.
