adjusting brakes
 

I just added power master to my truck and kept drums at all 4. I also used the old block I don't think its called a portioning valve as the newer models have. My question is how do I adjust the brakes. As of now if I barely hit the brakes the tires lockup and it pulles to the left. I have to slowly touch the brakes or I make a really loud sene...

first question is did you use a master for drum brakes????

It was setup for disc brakes, but I removed the porting valve and used the one that was on the truck.

If one resivour is larger than the other, you have the wrong one.
Another thing that is probable, is the push rod is too long. To figure out if this is the problem, remove the cap and slowly loosen the 2 mounting nuts holding the master to the booster. If the fluid level chainges, or is you can see fluid flowing, (look for color chainges if the fluid is clear or maybe rippling) then you need to shorten the adjustable push rod behind the master going through the booster.
If all that checks out, then you need to adjust the shoes back.

I have a power brake booster off of a 1975 3/4 ton Chevy truck that had disk on the front. It works perfectly and I have drums on all four. So it doesn't matter if it came off a disk truck or a drum truck or if it came off of a car. You may need to readjust and shorten your pedal swing or readjust your brake pads. Does it have new brake pads? If so this will cause it to lock the rear brakes prematurely. The pulling to one side may be due to one of the brake cylinders ( most likely the one on the side on the front that it is pulling to ) is not working or frozen. You may want to do a good inspection to make sure that BOTH front wheel cylinders are working properly. They maybe asking for a rebuild.
