Anyone using one of those bed liner pads?
 

Instead if putting in a plastic bed liner or spraying one in, I am thinking of keeping it simple and putting in one of those liner pads.

Anyone use these? If so, how's it working, how much are they, and where's a good place to get them?

Liner pad? You mean something like a bed mat?

Old days, I'd cut a sheet of plywood to fit the bed. Then I went to a bed mat, just a rubber mat that goes on the bed floor. I personally don't like the plastic liner, and not really partial to the spray in ones.

The mat, things stay put better. And removable for cleaning out from under it. i haven't bought one in 20 years, so cost and availability you'll have to hunt up. I think the last truck I did (Ford), I used old conveyor belt out of a paper mill, cut to fit.

Plastic bed liners are slick and have seen many of them on the side of the freeway because not tied town. Wife had me throw a horse mat in the back of her truck.

I have a plastic liner. Works great and protects the bed. Sometimes I put the mat on top of the liner to keep things from sliding around.

Yea... I guess they would call them a bed mat. I've never actually need one up-close but I envision that they are a rubbery-non skid type of feel. I'm thinking about getting one of there.

Have one in my '86. I like it. Keeps things from sliding around and can be removed easily to wash out the bed. My truck also came with the mat that screws to the tailgate. If the truck didn't come with this piece, I wouldn't have it because holes need to be drilled in the gate to install. LMC catalog has these.

Did you buy it from LMC? I see them online but am unsure about what the differences are between models. Did you get one fitted or cut it?

I put a mat in my 87 SWB GMC and I love it because I'm always hauling misc Chevy truck parts and don't want to destroy my nice daily driver bed. I pulled this from a long bed parts truck of mine and cut it down to fit my truck.

The only rust holes on my GMC truck bed is around the rubber mat that was in there. Apparently the previous owner didn't take it out and clean it often enough. I don't have time to clean around it all the time so I rarely use it. Leaves and needles will find their way under there even if you don't use the truck. I'm sure it offers a lot of protection to the floor when hauling heavy stuff but it is another maintenance item.

X2 on the horse mat, have done it for many years. It's heavy as hell since it's 3/4" thick, but you'll never deal with anything tougher. I routinely drop 70lbs big block heads onto mine, it doesn't care. And if I put a head in the bed and drive 1000 miles, it'll still be in the same spot when I arrive. Drill a hole in each corner and use a small screw with a washer on it to hold it down, it keeps the corners from curling.
You can get 'em at Tractor Supply or any other farm supply store.
I've seen too many of the thin ones that are torn, even had a buddy that had one blow out.
And I use one of the roller skate liners (hard plastic) with the horse mat on top of it. I have good protection on all sides and a floor that can take anything. I've gotten all of my plastic liners for free from folks that couldn't stand 'em because they're so slick. I never told 'em that all they need to do is but a non-skid mat on top of it.

Did you folks order these custom for your truck or get the generic brand were you cut it to fit?

There is some of these mats made to fit that is about 3/8" thick. I routinely slide 4" I beams on mine and it stays put . I would find one of these HD mats and throw it in and your done. Mine was made to fit no cutting . Just look around and find the thick one.
