68 swb 4x4
After nearly looking for a swb 4x4 for about a year I came across this 68 swb 4x4, needs plenty of work but rust is to minimum , has a lot of bondo but it's a California truck, I was able to drive her home for 3500, has original 283/4 speed, plan is to do a frame off restore with fuel injected lq4 6.0l

Re: 68 swb 4x4
Were there still 283s in '68?

Re: 68 swb 4x4
I believe the truck is lifted 4 inches and has 32x11.50 tires now, I got the front clip off tonight, had few questions about my front leaf spring mounts if there original, ill post pictures of them, there is a lot of welding on the front of the frame, I know the sway bar was added, and also have a picture of the number on the frame, im not sure how to decode it, but hopefully matches to a 68 swb chevy 4x4,

Re: 68 swb 4x4
Keep in mind that the factory attached suspension brackets to the frame with rivets, not bolts

Re: 68 swb 4x4
That frame # should match the vin.

Re: 68 swb 4x4
Yea I'll check my vin and that number tonight, anyone have any insight on the front of my frame were it looks like leaf spring shackles have been bolted on? While I'm working on getting down to frame I just want it to be right if I need to do some repairs

Re: 68 swb 4x4
You may want to contact a moderator and ask if they can move this thread to the truck section, since you posted it in the Blazer section and, well, it's not a Blazer.

Sorry about that, new to the site, if we could move it to the truck section that would be great

Re: 68 swb 4x4
If you go to the top of the page and click on "Home" there will be a link under it on the page that comes up to "Contact Staff", my guess is that they could move it for you, they seem to do it somewhat often.

Re: 68 swb 4x4
I'd take a guess and say that a good chunk of us in this section also follow the truck section, and same is probably true of Suburban guys also, though I'd bet the truck guys probably look at our section less often. So you'll likely get a lot more reads and help in the truck section, though I gotta say you'll find this to be one of the most helpful forums of any sort you'll ever see. It really is an amazing community here.
