Upgraded Headlight Harness
I was feeling a little tired of lying on my back under the truck and up to my elbows in dirt, grease, grime, etc. so I decided to take on a different kind of project tonight. I decided to upgrade the headlight harness.
I was having some ground issues, and the lights were working intermittently, so I decided so dig in and see what I could do. I noticed right away that I didn't like how the lights were wired. I had two spare relays in the garage, so I decided to redo everything forward of the trigger wires coming from the cab. The benefits I wanted were drawing power for both the high and low beams directing from the battery, and running separate leads for each side independently (rather that feeding the right from the left), and of course, new wire, connectors and grounds eliminating the old corroded parts. It came out well, and hopefully will net some improvement. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-B...800/image2.JPG https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-R...800/image3.JPG https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-f...800/image1.JPG |

Yep! good stuff!

Re: Upgraded Headlight Harness
NOW upgrade the headlights to aftermarket bulbs and metal reflectors for a brighter light, yet.

Re: Upgraded Headlight Harness
I'm going with silverstars - thought about changing to a non sealed beam housing, but decided against it for the moment. Those will go in over the weekend!

Re: Upgraded Headlight Harness
I had silverstars, but finally decided to go with high wattage bulbs and replacement clear lenses to get the most out of the light for those pesky deer.

Re: Upgraded Headlight Harness
I recently picked up a set of Jeep JK (07+ Wrangler) headlights, and will be trying them out before too long. I'll do a comparison vs stock (one side stock, other side JK), both with OEM harness and relays. They're clear lens lights that someone claimed bolt up, and are available pretty cheap too (I paid $40 for a pair).
