I need some help from members in Wa.

Where to start,

well my mechanic decided to tell me that he Black Flag my truck because the wire harness is the wrong year, the engine is from 86, the front clip and doors are from 89, the cab is from 77, and the rest of the truck is from 73. I need help. I have already spent 6k invested.

Is there anyway I could swap out the harness from 89 and use my 80 harness that goes with the engine?

I have a 79 CSB harness for guages of you can use it. I'm going 74 wiring so it will be unneeded.

See my truck is a survivor from 73, I still have that harness, there are a few wires missing but I know where everything goes. PM me

Unless you're doing a factory fresh restoration or something there is no reason to black flag it. Crazy. Match the harness to the cab harness would be the easiest to me. Everything is pretty much spade or ring style connectors anyway and very easy to adapt.

What does black flag mean? Is this an emissions thing or just a mechanics opinion that your truck needs a bunch of work?

Re: I need some help from members in Wa.

It means the mechanic is refusing to work on the truck due to his own personal view, of me using 5 different years of chevy trucks, to build 1 solid runner. However I get used but new parts tomorrow, and the truck will look like a 73 once again.

What do you want help with? If I was working for money I'd be very reluctant to work on a truck frankensteined as much as that, too likely to have problems that might be very difficult to diagnose (which might reflect poorly on my skills).

Well it was just a cab swap. Cuz I'm building the 73 clip back.

I understand that, however one of his employees screwed the brakes up on my C10, and charged me with a $800 bill. Pocketed $600 and didn't do a damn thing.

The reason why I had to rebuild the 73. I wrecked my c10, and broke 3 ribs on the right side of my chest.

Now it makes sense why he "black flagged" you. If they screwed up your brakes, they don't want to eat the money to fix it so their excuse is that your truck is a Frankenstein. Sounds like a bunch of dirt bags. Maybe small claims court is best option.

I think I would shop for a different mechanic , they must be jerks , hell they get paid by the hour for there work , id fix the scars on frankenstiens head if I were getting paid , I don't understand them, we get people that want frankensteins built with thir parts and ours and event his bride , moneys money parts are parts and it all works just my 2 cents worth , get a working mechanic

Small Claims, definitely.

What does "Black Flag" mean? Is it a registration problem?

Re: I need some help from members in Wa.

He stated above that it's just that said mechanic doesn't want to work on it. If it wasn't for the problem regarding him screwing you on the brakes I wouldn't see anything wrong - it can be very difficult to troubleshoot frankensteins, and if they do it wrong or take a long time it can reflect poorly on the mechanic.

To repeat what everyone else says, find a real mechanic. I dont know about small claims as that would be a tough thing to prove. However....I would let him him know monday morning at 9AM that I would not stop telling anyone and everyone who would listen what @$&?#!'s they are until i am laid to rest and pushing up daisys.
If you are on facebook checkout the group Northwest C10s. A couple members are mechanics by trade and could possibly point you to a decent shop.
