74 gauge bezel repair?

Went to a wrecking and scored a 1973 cluster housing and bezel. Already have the gauge cluster cleaned, put back together and installed. I sanded all the contacts and I think it fixed the fuel gauge.
Now the question, what do you all use to repair small cracks on the bezel? What do you recommend to strip 40 years of paint, and whatever else has been put on this poor part!
I have heard that brake fluid is good for stripping paint off plastic without damaging the plastic. Anyone tried that?
The only real issue is the stereo opening has been cut. I have to figure out a repair for that as well. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Pics? or it didn't happen, LOL and I would not try brake fluid on plastic, I would get Aricraft stripper specifically designed fer plastic, or just sand it smooth and paint over it
