2004 Silverado seats
 

There are a lot of threads about this subject but some people have tilt steering columns and some other install smaller diameter steering wheels.

I don't have tilt and I am keeping my original steering wheel. Will the updated seats be too close to the steering wheel? My wife says I have chicken legs but I am still concerned about not having enough space. :uhmk:

I put that type seat in my 70 with a smaller than normal wheel and it was tight. I had a larger than normal belly at that time. That was about a hundred pounds ago, but a tilt would still be nice if your bigger than your average person. I know tons of people run them the huge plus is the self contained seatbelts, I can't say how big a plus that is some use the seats just for that alone. Be sure to add a floor strap or support or some sort underneath the seat to make sure that if anything were to happen[there are some crazy people behind other wheels out there] the seat would not pull through the floor boards and sent you flying around the inside of that truck with you and your loved ones strapped inside the seats. I have herd people all over this site talk about the seats pulling through the floor and such when swapping seats on here. I just finished my 99 Tahoe seat swap and I do have tilt wheel. That said,
I just want to say if you use a good grade 8 bolt that has the correct washers then you are good no other bracing should be needed. I looked at my seats while I had them a part for cleaning and reupholstering them. Has anyone ever looked at the mounting screws to the tracks of these seats. They are little I mean little tiny 3/16" normal screws into aluminum no nuts. I was like dang it man. If anything these should be the concern of anyone who mounts them in their truck.
By the way mine have separate seat belts not made into the seats. It is a little close but I love the way they sit + mine have the heaters also!:chevy:

There is one guy on here who swears by his but the general consensus is they cramp the cab too much

Look nice and comfy but, I tried various Full Size truck seats and the fact is our cab interiors / dimensions are more along the size of Today's "Mid-size" trucks like, Colorado, Dakota, Ranger. I'm 6'-2" 275 and what worked for me without over-cramping the cab was 2001 Blazer ZR2 buckets, with a late 80s console. Oh and theres no gas tank in cab, I've got a 5.3 and frame mounted tank in back. Big guys like me need room in these trucks, or get ready to be miserable.

Ok, I appreciate all your feedback and although I am only 5'7" and 155 lbs, I am going to skip on the silverado seats. Just the height difference between the two seats is too much and the steering wheel would be too close. Although it would be nice to have intergrated seatbelts and leather seats. I am going to re-install my stock bench seat, throw a saddle cover on it and call it a day.
