86 Burb need rear wheel tub ideas

So I new I had a little rust starting and due to a blown diff with a flip kit I decided to pull the leafs since they were sagged anyway which seemed easier to remove the spare tire well to get the rear shackle bolt out. Anyway turns out the rear inner tubs are BAD!
I also found more rust the shop that did the body for the previous owner must have thought wouldnt be seen if they hid it under new outer panels. So my dilemma is to scrap or proceed with my original end plan and bag it. I prefer choice #2 :)
Can you guys that have done step notches and floor/ wheel tub mods needed please post pics and maybe a brief description of what you used as far as parts, etc?
Id like to save this truck rather than scrap it.

Any other pics out there?
Blazer 2007 did you seal them right to the inside of the quarter or just what you can see in the pics?

It,s in the mock up stage right now but I think I,m going to make some angle iron strips from 16 G. and weld them to the tubs then bolt them to the quarters and also use some sorta sealer as well.
