My Nuts are Different Sizes! Lug Nuts that is... What is stock?

I could go in a lot of directions with this but in short, the lug nuts on my new, old 78 are different styles. The set up front are chrome 1/2" 20s that are about an inch long. The backs are shorter, less decorative, and more rounded. The got me thinking....

- what do the stock lug nuts look like?

- anyone god recommendations in a new set? Just go to Pep Boys and buy?

I use mcgar lug nuts. They have a lifetime guarantee on the chrome.

+1 on McGard. Good quality.

Some of the newer nuts have a "shoulder" that prevents your socket from scratching the wheel itself - while it may not be original in appearance, I'd recommend those. If they are all the same, it will still look grand.

The stock lug nuts are capped regular nuts. You do not want those, as that cap will invariably be damaged when you get a flat tire, at the most inconvenient time, in the darkest corner of nowhere, and without the tools at hand to make it easy to get them loose. If you do have them, keep a large set of curved vise grips in the truck...

you can run the open stlye nuts like on the 1ton work trucks. they have those in all sizes. i run them on every thing as i know i can get them off. but if you have after market rims and want the closed one get really good ones. ones that the cap wont spin when you have to take them off. fought with many of them they suck. i have them on my k30 with out law rims and i got mcgards also. seem to be better then most but have not been on long in new england lol

Refer back to your beautifying thread.

You can see the correct lug nuts on my truck and also on the work bench in my most recently added photos.

They are a 1/2" stud steel nut with a stainless acorn cap. Socket size is 13/16".
