What transmisson

What should I look for in either the vin# or rpo sticker to determine what transmission is in a 1992 Sierra ? Thanks

Re: What transmisson

Automatics would be either THM700R4, or 4L60e, in any half ton. 1993 was when the 4L60e was officially adopted, so more likely it is a 700r4, also known as 4L60 in the last couple of years before the -e model. I didn't find RPO codes for the automatics. There was only one per GVW class, so you can just look at the column to see what it was.

In the 3/4 ton, it would be a 4L80e, from 1991 on.

Manual transmissions would be NV3500 5 speed in the half ton.(RPO MG5)
It would be the NV4500 in 3/4 and 1 tons. (RPO MT8 or MW3)
