Military tires on a square body good idea or not so good
 

hay guys was considering getting some military tires for my truck cus there pretty cheap but was wondering how do they preform in deep snow an light mud I figure they'd do good but haven't found much about snow usage also if anyone knows a place I can get these in Ohio an where to
Get 6 lug rims that fit these tires that be much appreciated
O and what size lift would be needed to clear these I believe my truck has a 3-5 inch lift not really sure

Whats the tire size you are trying to fit? Up here, military pickups run off the shelf stock sized tires.

I'm guessing he means the 37s of HMMWVs. I haven't heard good things about them, but they are cheap.

I ment the 37s but I didn't know u could get them in stock size that be cool or maybe a Tiney bit bigger lol but Do u guys know if they do well in the snow cus im Rocken to bald front tires atm an gotta find some new ones soon before we get more snow an also where do I order them at only place I've found was in Florida an they only had the huge ones

I know the jeep guys used to mess with em a bit. Performance wasnt very good but was a way to get big tires for pretty cheap.

Pardon my ignorance but what the heck are y'all talking about? Does the military sell their used tires or do you have a way to buy tires manufactured for military vehicles?

A few people like http://100dollarman.com/ sell used military tires.What i have read they are ok on road and suck off road.I would skip them they will ride rough they are designed to handle the weight of a armored h1 which isn't light at all.Not the answer you want but look at goodyear duratrac you can get them in 35s,Or toyo open country mt and those you can get up to a 40 depending rim size.

Hmmwv's empty Weight: 5,200 pounds then add the fuel, cargo , passengers, or body mods that can add another 4400 lbs. So your weight is around 9-11k they ride a lot smother.

The gvw of a m1165 is 11,500lbs,The m1151a is is 13,500lbs.A big block k30 weights 10k a small block k20 weights about 6200 and same thing but k10 5200 lbs.

A bigblock K30 doesn't weigh 10k. GVWR 10k? Sure. Curb weight is probably around 6, unless you're talking crew cab which still isn't 10.

Or, looking at the Heritage Center: https://www.gmheritagecenter.com/doc...olet-Truck.pdf it appears that a single cab/long bed K30 weighs under 5k. That's probably with a smallblock, but even the crew cab should be well under 6k with a bigblock (curb weight 5369 with standard options).
