5.3 swap in a square
When I get my 5.3/4L65 it will not have a home. I got it because it was worth the money no matter how it is sliced.
I won't put it in my K20 since that has a new 350, and bolt ons. Plus would require reinventing the wheel to maybe get more mpg. Also this truck may have to go bye bye due to the ex wife moving 130 miles away in a month or so. My F100 I want to keep all Ford, but it would work well for mpg. It has a CV swap, and will be a street truck for good handling. So if I got another square for my motor which years if any are easier to facilitate the swap. Or it just doesn't matter because it is a mod or two difference. The square will either be a crew cab or a suburban so I can have a road adventure vehicle. |
Re: 5.3 swap in a square
I have a work van so no get a small car crap. No space for the vehicles I want much less crap I don't.

Re: 5.3 swap in a square
The 91 model CC trucks and suburbans would already have the electronic speedos and the baffled tanks for efi.

Re: 5.3 swap in a square
Other than instrumentation, I don't think there's much difference if the vehicle came with a smallblock from the factory. Being in California, I'd suggest something '75 or earlier so you don't have to smog it

Re: 5.3 swap in a square
I would prefer that too, but the are quite rare by comparison. Also in much rougher condition on average.
Plus I thought I read they are an easier wiring swap post 87 |
Re: 5.3 swap in a square
it really don't matter what year 73-87 mods would be the same really, u might wana do some more research

Re: 5.3 swap in a square
The smallest difference as far as ease of swap would be a 87-91. They have the fuel lines that you're going to need already. Even if you found a better deal on a different year it's not hard to grab fuel lines on a later model square snd install em.

Re: 5.3 swap in a square
What about buying a g body car? They made them 78-88 its the monte carlo the cutlass the regal the malibu and el camino. If you get a malibu or cutlass wagon those are dirt cheap and would make a nice sleeper.

Re: 5.3 swap in a square
if u buy a c10 pre 87 all u have to do is buy the 87 gas tank, 87 sending unit and aftermarket fuel pump or a early 90s fuel pump and use a 91 cluster or jus buy aftermarket gauges...swap is not that hard at all
