RIDETECH Coilovers on a 73-87
1 Attachment(s)
I have been planning to put the front kit on my 85 Suburban and just haven't found the time yet, but a few of my customers have purchased our 63-72 kit for their Square fender trucks.
One of my customer sent me some pics back of his. He is running 18" wheels and Stock Spindles. We initially sent him the correct ball joints for his year of truck and he did have to Drill 2 additional holes on our upper coilover mount but we will make that change on our brackets going forward. So with stock spindles this is what a square fender will look like. |
Re: RIDETECH Coilovers on a 73-87
So if I'm understanding this correctly it is a 63-72 kit on a 73-87? If so what does the kit include?
Thanks carter |

Re: RIDETECH Coilovers on a 73-87
How low can the ride height be for the suspension to work properly? I am going to do coilovers (most likely your strong arm kit) on my 74. I am going to section the crossmember 1.5" and run a 2" drop spindle. I am shooting for about 2" of tire tucked with a 28" tall tire.

With 3" spindles the stance would be perfect. Very interested.

Re: RIDETECH Coilovers on a 73-87
I am running 15x8 truck rallys in the front with a 275/60r15 tire. I have the stock spindles with djm lowering control arms and air bags now. I have it sitting at the ride height I like. I am switching to coilovers because I want adjustability/performance without having to deal with bags. I just want to make sure I can get the suspension angles (strong arms) in the ranges they were designed to operate at and be at the ride height I want.

going to need a smaller tire

Re: RIDETECH Coilovers on a 73-87
Why would I need a smaller tire(sidweall, width, ect)? It fits with room to spare right now at the ride height I want?

Re: RIDETECH Coilovers on a 73-87
This is where is would like the front, the rear needs to go down another couple inches.

Re: RIDETECH Coilovers on a 73-87
That looks perfect IMO - has a dropped look but still retains all functionality.
Will this work with the stock rally wheels with no issues? What is the pricing on this kit? Thanks |

That's the downfall of the 60-87 trucks when you want to drive them low. |

Re: RIDETECH Coilovers on a 73-87
I have the stock wheels on there now with aftermarket arms and there are no issues. The ball joint part of the control arm looks to be smaller on the ride tech arms so it should be ok. I guess I won't know for sure until I get the arms and drop spindle installed.

Are the shocks adjustable? Like your HQ shocks?

Re: RIDETECH Coilovers on a 73-87
are yall planning on making a crossmember with rack and pinion I love the ridetech but truth be told I dont like having to use the unisteer setup if I used the ridetech.. its the only reason I haven't pulled the trigger on the coilover kit yet..so im patiently waiting..
