Leddzepp did you get a kit or just springs? Any modification for that stance? I'm wanting something I can fit at least 18 or 20s

Thanks slow-1

Here is my '68 with a 4/6 (Wheels are 20"/22")
Attachment 1349822

And my '71 with a 5.5"/7" (Wheels are 20"/20")
Attachment 1349823

The wheels/tires you choose will play into your drop choice; size as well as back spacing are critical when you go this low.

I'm not wanting to modify the frame at this point until I can afford the bag setup n what not.

2.5" dropped spindles up front with stock springs and 1 full coil cut from each. 5" springs out back with 2" blocks. Frame is c-notched, have shock relocaters and an adjustable trac bar. Didn't use a kit, pieced together through sales and craigslist.

Thought I'd throw this in:

http://magwa.smugmug.com/Sunday-Driv...MG_1123-X3.jpg

338 20's with an ECE 4.5 (2.5" spindles, 2"coil) /6 static drop. All ECE under there.

Re: 4/6 or 5/7 drop

Mine is the beater version of that truck! All ECE in the front. DJM flip in the rear. 2 1/2" spindles, 2" springs lowered it almost 4 3/4. Flip put it down 7 in the rear.

Re: 4/6 or 5/7 drop

I did the 3" coils up front and steering rods are rubbing the idler and pitman arm mounts. Do I need to do the drop spindles to cure this problem. They are rubbing without the motor even in the truck so Im concerned that when I get it in with the extra weight it will just get worse. Any info appreciated.

Mine had 2.5" spindles but switched to cpp modular 2".....which i didn't notice a difference at all in the stance. So I guess it's a 4/7 drop now. 2" spindles 2" springs front and 5" springs 2" blocks on back and c-notch.

For those that are running a 6" rear spring, how much clearance do you have between the frame and axle.....Trying to do some mock up but with out a body/engine etc on it. Im trying to get an idea of (loaded) ride height.....

This will be different for a few reasons. A shortbox stepside weighs less than a short wide box and a longbox will weigh more than each of those.
So, the same 6" rear spring will "typically" not need a c-notch in a short box stepside, while a longbox will "typically" most likely need to be c-notched due to the extra weight.
As far as the short wide box with a 6" rear spring. Its about 50/50 whether it will bottom out or not.
Hope this helps.
Oh, and as a mock up height?... I take the rear spring completely out, letting the rearend rest on the bump stop (provided its still in) that is close to an approximate 6" lower spring ride height, again totally depends on the weight and other factors for end result actual ride height..

3/4" before the untrimmed bump stops. No C notch. 20" wheels w 275/45's.
Shock relocator kit.

I give it mild hauling tasks. When the work is heavier, I'm close to home. But, so far (a couple of years) , no bumping on the stops.

With just the weight of frame it sat at 4.5"......Mockup was done loaded to a ride height of 3". So looks like I was guessing in the correct range...... ;)

THX !!

At 5" my truck bottomed out routinely and needed a notch. You will get answers all over the place.

Truck height looks great. Did you have to trim both the front and rear bump stops?

This is very true information, and to me will make or break the truck
