Took a drive today with the boys.

I took all three boys out for a drive today. Weather was nice for cruisin around. It's been a good day.
Introductions, from left to right: Samson - 1970 CST10 lwb with a 462 bb, 500 tq/475hp. T350 tranny, 3.08 rear gear, ac, 2/4 drop. Brutus- 1998 Camaro Z28, LS with 635hp/599tq . A really tire shredder. Runs 10.8 second 1/4 mile times. All factory interior and spare tire, ac everything still in the car. Owen - 1968 C10, 250 engine, 3 on the tree, 3/5 drop, still fun to drive. |

Nice units! Wow that LS in the camaro really outpowers the BB. I always liked the traditional engines but the power potential is just too hard to ignore, even in the torque area which surprised me a bit.

Re: Took a drive today with the boys.
The Camaro has Heads, cam, piston, rods, intake, throttle body, basically the block is unchanged. Everything else has been upgraded. Plus I got a 100 shot of spray on it too.
The truck BB was built to be a stump puller. The torque range is 1800 RPM's well over 350 ft lbs all the way to 4800 RPM's at 500, then starts to drop. Never made a pull on the dyno above 5750 RPMs. When we shut it down on the dyno the Hp was still climbing and torque starting to drop off.....so I really don't know the full potential of the truck. The bottom end of the engine is basically stock Pistons, rods and crank. Thought about putting a shot of NOS on it since the compression ratio is only 8.2 to 1. Put it on the track once. Smoked the tires to the 1/8 mile marker every time and pulled 13.3 1/4 mile time. The Camaro has a full interior, stereo, everything it came with from the factory including the spare in the trunk and it pulls 10.8-10.9's consistently at about 128-129 mph in the 1/4 mile. Drive em to the track then drive it home after. Reliable power! |
