remove steering column
How do I remove an automatic steering column from my 86 k5? I have everything disconnected. I need it removed to get my new clutch/brake pedals in. Thankso

Re: remove steering column
There are a couple sets of covers below it (part of the dash/gauge cluster). Then there are a couple large nuts, pull those and it'll drop down a little. You then have... 6? 8? screws holding the seal to the firewall, and you can either disconnect the U joint or something else to remove it. I think it took me around half an hour to pull one at a junkyard.

Re: remove steering column
Ok. So 6 or 8 screws. Must be under the insulation. I will check that out. Thanks.

Re: remove steering column
I could be wrong on the number. There are two metal plates that hold the seal in place. I think they're 3/8" head.
