How To Step Side Steps
Been working on my 68 frame, 67 cab for a couple years a little at a time. The PO did not have the side step. He made up a step, I have the correct step and hanger now and my question is.....does the bracket bolt to the bed? I looked at the LMC drawing but it is unclear and they don't show how the 2 bolts at top of bracket bolts on, which the bracket has welded on nuts so it can be bolted on. Or at least the set I have.

Great thanks, LMC does' not show #14.. and it looks like it bolts to the cross brace.
Thanks again |

No one has them after market and most trucks I have seen don't even use them....I do have them on my 56 stepside and not on my 62 stepside. I don't notice any extra flex with out them but I think I will fab some out of 3/8 rod. The upper end is threaded like "All-thread" and the lower section is flattened out and drilled. That end picks up the step/rear fender bolt.
Here's where it goes using a 1/4 extension Attachment 1351881 |
Re: How To Step Side Steps
Ok I see now, I do have the brace in the back of the fender. I can see how it would support the fender from flexing when stepping on the step some what. Although mine is not a show truck or even a daily driver, some where in between and guessing the step wont be used much. I'll make up a brace for the front fender, no way am I going to pay 67 bucks....
