What size tire on a 7" rim.
 

I have a set of 7" & 8" rallies and soon to be two short beds. I want to save the 8" for the one that I am rebuilding. The shorty that I am getting needs a set of rallies back on it and if I can't find a decent set of 8's then the 7's will go on. My question is that I was thinking about either running 275/60's all the way around or maybe 245 on the front and 275 on the rear. Will a 275 go on a 7" rim? I really like the fat tire look on the rallies. Right now the truck is stock height. At most if I decide to lower it would be a 2/4 drop.

Wide tires on narrow rims wears out the center of the tread. If you can't live with that then I think 245/60 is as wide as I would go. I actually did that with no problems so maybe a 255 would live on a 7 incher.

I ran 225 70 15 and 275 60 15 on a set of 7" rally's, combo looked good together put over 40,000 miles on it before I sold truck.tires wore fine.

I run a 235/70-15 on a 7" wheel, it's 28" tall

Thanks guys for the replies so far. I will have to look at a couple of pics of your trucks to see how they look. I came across Melks truck here on the forum. He is running 8" on a 2.5/4 drop with 275/60's and I like that look. I may have to see about finding another set of 8's. Keeping all options open right now. Here is Melks truck.

245/60/15 would be good but is a lil shorter than a 275/60/15 I would go with a 235/70/15 if ur only gona lower it 2/4

I had also had the thought of doing the 245/60's on the 7 inchers too.

5/6 drop with 15x8 on 255/60/15 up front and 15x10 with 275/60/15 rear

here's 295/50's on 15x8 ralleys. It would be similar look for 275/60's on 15x7.

I think the 454 SS that Chevy made in the early 90's came with 15x7's and 275/60/15's from the factory.

No those are 15x8s not 15x7s

Put the eights on the rears and the sevens on the fronts, then you don't have to find another set. Fat and skinnies.

I will see what kind of deal I can get on a set of tires and go from there. I might just put these wheels on it for the time being. 295/50/15's

brakenit is correct, 275/60/15 on factory 15X7 wheels. Have them on my 1990 454 SS. I used to think they were 8 inch rims also until I bought this truck and found out not so.
