54 Cab

Does anyone know if they reproduce a cab for a 54? Everything I have looked at says its for up to a 54 but has a 2 piece windshield and the interior dash is different. Thanks in advance.

They don't :( some parts are shared like the rear corners but a whole cab repo is only pre 54

The 54 and 55 1st cab is slightly different than the previous years. I'm not quite for sure what GM was thinking on them, to do a change for a little over a year and then completely re-design the trucks.

The Windshield, cab roof, upper cowel, and dash are the only real differences.

Premier Street Rods builds their cabs in house, they may be able to help you out. I would think the tooling should be out there for a 54-55 cab.

I'll check with them. Thanks!

I called Premier and they can't build a 54 cab either but they say my entire front end will work on their 53 cab. Pretty much the biggest differences I'll face is the windshield and the dash. They sell a 1 piece windshield for that model if you cut the center bar out. Just not sure I want a 53 dash with a 54 front end!

Also keep in mind those "one piece windshield" kits for the 53 and older cabs do not look like the 54 windshields at all. They typically still have two separate pieces of glass that come together at a point in the middle of the windshield - just the glass pieces are bonded together rather than being separated by the middle bar.

Are the seats different as well? The 54 has a seat riser. Wasn't sure about the 53. I just don't want a truck that looks like it was pieced together. Half 53, half 54!

Well with the 53 dash, it will be pretty obvious. If a 54 truck is what you really want, and your budget would have allowed for a full repro cab, I'd wager your best bet would be to hunt for on original 54 cab.

Just something interesting here. GM sent the tooling for the 54/55 cabs to Brazil.

Check it out.

I have one of each and the seat and frame look to me to be the same.

I have not tried to swap seats, but if you want some measurments let me know.
I did have a 54 with the 53 sheet metal front end and you had to look real hard to see that it was not a 48 to 53
The curved windshield on the 54 is a dead giveaway

That would be a V butt, they make one piece windshields to replace the two piece, they're not bonded, are one piece but they have a sharp crease in the middle, not a bend like a 54 has.
