81-87 GMC grille changes. Same year change as Chevy?
 

Just curious is GMC kind of followed the same years that Chevy changed their truck grilles. The 84 has a different grille than my 86 has. Thinking about upgrading the 84 to the style thats in my 86. Anyone have a photo chart for GMC front ends like the one for the Chevy's that show all the changes through the years? I have the pic for Chevy but didn't know if there was one for GMC.

I think I found a grill for the GMC. It looks like its probably an 85-87 style. Supposed to be brand new. $40. Have to find some headlight bezels now. Pic of the 84 and the grill I am going to get later in the week.

Yes, as far as I know, GMC grilles changed the same years as Chevy's.

The breakdown for GMC's is 73-74, 75-76, 77-79(80), 80, 81-82, 83-84, 85-87(88), and 89-91 on the crew cabs, Suburbans, and Blazers.

One exception is 1980 for base model GMC's. On those, the grilles are identical to 1979.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure this is the year breakdown.

Strange, my 80 :gmc2: sierra came with an 81 front :uhmk: My truck as the straight line fenders and has the later style interior, can someone shine in if the later made 80' models may have looked like the 81-87? I know GM did that to the 2013 impala, you can get the older body style or the newer body style yet they are both 2013's
