Master cyl upgrade with factory clutch pedal?
Looking at doing the Speedway Motors disc brakes up front on my '59 and will need to upgrade the master cyl. One of the master cyl kits says it will not work with the stock clutch, others do not say one way or the other. Anyone have a dual master swap with the factory clutch pedal? I'm not set on power or manual brakes..so if you have either I'd like input. Thanks!

Hey there Captain America. I am using stock linkage and pedal assembly with a disc front drum rear or dual master cylinder. You can buy or make the adapter to keep the stock pedal location. If I ran a booster then I might have a problem, but with a manual cylinder none. In the pictures you can't see much of the clutch linkage but it is in place. The third picture is just a modification I did to the clutch linkage to take up some looseness in the linkage. This on my 55.

If you want to drop more b-bang into the conversion, you can firewall mount the master cylinder and use a hanging brake pedal - then ZERO clutch pedal interference.
Gotta love those 12:25 AM pics, Clarence J :p ps. love the yellow frame! |

I am not running a clutch but left room in case I change my mind. I made a bracket that bolts to the stock MC bracket and kept the stock pedal in the same place. When I added the booster I made a bracket that pushes it and the MC back so the mc is behind the cab brace. That is so I can easily fill it thru a trap door under the seat (me seats tilt forward or are easily removed). In the first photo you can see the clutch bracket, no interference.

This is the kit I got from CPP and it doesn't interfere with the clutch at all. I like this kit because it uses the original brake pedal.
