Breaking in a California 86K30 in Nebraska snowstorm

Since Joe posted his shots of his beautiful K30 I thought I better show how I gave my new California native 86 K30 it's first winter snow workout in Nebraska. We had two storms one Sunday and the second Wednesday. This was Sunday's out by my place as I buried my 2013 Duramax with a Hiniker V plow in the middle of the blinding blizzard with 50 mph winds. Need to setup GPS on these snowplows to keep them centered on the road when navigating 3 to 5 foot drifts in a white out!
Still tonight the road has not been opened yet its been the 86 K30 or my 2001 Cummins blasting through the 3 foot drifts getting to and from town today. At least it is only snow and not salted roads this way. |

All these pictures were just the Sunday storm. Double the snow over the drifts and it was a challenge today in places.

I like the pictures (of the truck I like). Did you pull the newer truck out with your real truck? I miss the feel and sound of driving my older trucks in the snow (everywhere). I'll take them out before the county comes through. I'm on the county line and my county comes down to the dirt road to my north and the county across the road does from there to the junction to my south. There's another dirt road just south of me. I feel lucky my road and those dirt roads are last on their list.

I just let the local tow company lift the new one safely back on the road. I'm the same way about working my older trucks I love getting these older 4x4s out in fresh powder and honestly they actually churn right through the deep snow better as the new ones have so much plastic aero pieces hanging low to drag along. My big mistake on the new one is forgetting to shut traction and stability control off before I get it stuck right in the middle of a drift! The old ones just fly through up to the top of the bumper with momentum.

Nice pics Mark, ugly snow thought lol. We just got a few inches down here. I wish I had a way to play in some "clean unsalted" snow
