mufflers

What mufflers will give good tone but the least interior resonance? Engine is a small block 388 with roller cam.

I think a long magnaflow duels would work well for you. I would use 2 1/2 inch myself.

The longest mangaflows I am aware of is 24 inches.

2.5" Dynomax SuperTurbos.
Run them out the back for fairly quiet drive, out midway for some rumble.
Sounds nice, and will turn some heads idling through a parking lot with shorter tailpipes.
Out flowed Flowmasters in dyno testing.

I've always thought Walker Quiet Flows might be the way to go, but have no first hand experience with them. They're advertised as offering more performance than OE-type mufflers without being too noisy.

When my 82 C10 gets its 355 transplant, I have an almost new pair of old skool Thrush Turbos that I'll try out. Worst case, I'll have to add some 12" straight-thru glass packs as resonators, which I've done in the past on two vehicles. Easy to install on most pickups, just before the bumper. Basically what they do is knock some of the edge off the sound, and reduce interior resonance. Exhaust energy is much lower back there, so I gotta think the effect on power is negligible.
