What Wheels Do I Have, Don't Fit Right
2 Attachment(s)
I'm kind of new to this truck scene and need some help. Yesterday I tried to take the rear tires off my 86 C10 SWB and ended up having to apply some heat after every other attempt failed. Can anyone ID the wheels I have? They are about 16 1/4" in diameter and about 9" wide. They appear to be alum but I'm sure that is just the coating. They have trim rings and a center cap. They were not rusted on as the garage had them off a couple of weeks ago. Can I just remove about a 1/16" of the center hole with a file or grinder to make them fit? Thanks for any help. Appreciate it, Larry

Re: What Wheels Do I Have, Don't Fit Right
They appear to be the 15x8 factory rally wheels. Steel wheels made for these trucks so they should fit perfect. Take some emery cloth or sand paper and clean the surface of the brake hub and the edges of the round center piece of the hub then also clean the inside of rim center hole. You may put a light coat of anti seize on the the surfaces

You have steel rims with a silver paint coating. The removal problem is probably the hub on th e axle probably needs to be cleaned with some emery cloth.

What is going on with that new lug? I don't know if its the angle of the picture but something seems odd with it.
Also what is the spacing of the holes from center to center on the rim? |
Re: What Wheels Do I Have, Don't Fit Right
Thanks for the comments. The lug is just a replacement lug. Previous owner must have replaced it for some reason. The holes are 3" apart. I think the wheels were forced on by the lugnuts the last time they were put on because there was a slight ridge where the center hole looked a little deformed. I clean them up a little and see if that makes a difference. Thanks for the help.

You should get 127mm |
Re: What Wheels Do I Have, Don't Fit Right
These are obviously factory rallye wheels (or aftermarket duplicates). I think you are measuring everything wrong. Width is measured bead to bead and diameter is also, not outer edge of wheel. Maybe they are powder coated if you think they look aluminum. Whether it's paint or powder coat, I believe that is your problem. It needs to be removed or at least taken down some. If you paint your hubs you can get into the same problem. it's a snug fit with no room for build-up

Re: What Wheels Do I Have, Don't Fit Right
Just to weigh in with the other guys: those are the 1975 - 1991 C/K/R/V factory rally wheels, RPO N67. They are officially a 15x8" wheel; stamped steel painted argent silver. Lug pattern is referred to as a 5 hole on a 5" bolt circle.

Thanks to you all for your help. Bought some emery cloth today and will start working on both surfaces. Larry
