Need help to identify my motor

I bought my 66 C-10 Service/Utility truck a few months ago under the assumption that it was a 1976 250 I6 (engine swap at some point). It has HEI. I bought a chrome valve cover off EBay and it looks nothing like what is on my engine. My valve cover has like a 2" wide flat area on the drivers side, the whole length of the valve cover. Hopefully one of you engine gurus can help me.

Passenger side, close to firewall 1st set of numbers:
CON 2

A few inches away from that set of numbers:
A228 (maybe S instead of 8)

Half way towards front of motor:
GM
84

Numbers on head(passenger side):
0896

All of these are hard to read, hopefully someone can help me identify what I actually have. Thanks guys

Re: Need help to identify my motor

Just found some more numbers on the passenger side on a small part of the engine behind the distributor:
F0126CCD

Smaller font underneath the above number:
16W170056

Intake says (looks like a have an integral intake):
370696 (on drivers side)

I'm learning more and more about these inline 6s everyday!

Looks like Google helped me with this one. Looks like from the info I have a:
1978, 250 I6, with an integral intake. Makes since why my motor looks so much different from everyone else's!!!

Personally I'd get rid of the integral head. Get a head off an earlier 230-250 so you can have separate intake and exhaust. Glad you were able to figure it out.

The truck runs great. Not going to mess with a good thing at this point. Can't find a chrome valve cover for this motor, so I'm going to clean it up a little more and add some chrome breathers on it.
