C-notch questions. Sorry im new to site
 

Hey everyone. I want to install a 4/6 drop in my 71. But have a few questions first.
1. Do i need c-notch. I know its a good idea just wondering if i have to

2. Do i need shock re-locates

3.you guys think its to low? My truck has 265/35/r22. Not sure the backspacing
But they are in wheel wells far enough im sure.

With the frame rails on the axle tubes, your diff housing is only about 3/4" from the bed floor. I'm going for a 6ish in the rear (5" spring and some block to correct pinion angle) without a c-notch.

After installing the drop kit, decide for yourself if you need a c-notch. I have found there is no definitive number.

You need rear shock relocaters and any kit you buy most likely comes with them.

You may need to remove your inner fender wells up front with 22" tires, but I am not sure.

Howdy, My guess is that you will need at least a small C notch to have any kind of suspension travel, But the best advice is to lower your truck and decide then like Zepp said,

I normally re use the stock mounts in different places to re locate shocks, If I cant I just pick some up off ebay,

I did the same drop on my 71 and got my complete kit from ECE it comes with everything you will need to make the geometry correct. Yes you need to relocate the shocks and I installed a bolt in C notch from CPP did it need it no but if you ever load your truck down its gonna be very very close to the frame.

I agree with leddzepp. However I'd say yes, ultimately you would. The reason being is you don't know the weight of anything you might haul, bumps you may hit, or eventual spring sag. Sooner or later those axle tubes will contact the frame or bump stops because of the reduced suspension travel, and how many times can an axle tube slam into the frame before one of them bends or breaks? That's a hell of a math equation!

Ok thanx all. So if i have to relocate the upper
Mount for the shocks. Were do they go. Is there a general measurment or do
I have to try diffrent spots? Probly a dumb question haha. Just dont know much about suspension.

The new brackets bolt back in the same spot they just correct the angle the shocks mount so they will function properly and give you the best ride.
