New Purchase. VERY happy. 1991 GMC Jimmy. 84,341 miles. Fully loaded. No Tach. (is this common) 100% original, excluding tires and battery. Paint and body never been touched. Guy has had it sitting since 2001 in his heated garage here in town. His other toys are just as nice, just wont sell them. More pictures to come, this photo is from his garage. Very excited.

Tach is super hard to find in a factory one of this era. I don't think I've ever seen one in the suburban or K5 straight from the factory.

Some have retrofitted older ones in there or LMC I think has an aftermarket one that looks stock.

Nice truck and great find!

So with this sitting so long with only occasional start ups. What can a guy expect to see wrong with this once I put a few miles on it. As of now I don't see any leaking or blue exhaust on start up or acceleration. Thanks for your time guys.

Very nice! Rare truck too. Last yr for Jimmy and there was only 3500 or so built.
As for a tach, no after '82 on option sheet but there are a few people who did get them installed from factory as far as '85 if I recall correctly.
That being said, you have the electric speedo (90-91) so it complicates factory tach install but it can be done. Some cutting and Dremel work is involved due to speedo taking up a lot of room in the housing.
I put one in my '89 Blazer but I have last yr for cable driven speedo.

Yeah I guess Im not to worried about getting one in there. Don't plan on towing much or off roading it much. Just thought maybe missing a option that seemed like a no brainer when ordering this thing.

probably wouldn't hurt to put in a new fuel filter and run some techron through a tank of gas.

brakes fluid and lines might be worth looking at also.

great score! that jimmy would probably look better in my garage though....

Nice find! How about pics of the interior?

Re: 1991 gmc jimmy

Thanks for the input guys. Next question... Tops never been off. 1. Do I never take it off? 2. If I do is there going to be a new weather strip/seal kit I'll need to buy?(from never being off/old) 3. If I do decide to take it off and when I put it back on will I have new interior noises? (Hate unnecessary interior noise) this cab is tight, role down your window a quarter inch tight to make the door shut properly tight. Thanks again.

Oh also one other unoriginal piece is the one piece rear glass. Removed sliders years ago cause he noticed they leak when washing.

Do what you want, it's your rig now, enjoy it to the fullest!

i doubt you would have any issues, but the more you take it on and off, the more you will likely end up with noise or sealing issues.

i prefer the solid side windows myself.

Re: 1991 gmc jimmy

They seal up well, just take your time taking it on and off and store it carefully while it's off the truck and it should be fine. Nice score.

Well I haven't kept up with this post.... Here is the list of things i found wrong.
License plate light did not work. Busted wire.
Burnt out left front marker light.
Ac compressor failed.
Cracked dim headlight.
So far it's been good. I might replace all six shocks. Body mounts. Thoughts on front dual stabilizers? Also what stock height pavement pounder shock do guys like? Feels sloppy in the steering. Any other thoughts? Thanks.
Ahhhh yes also cruise sets fine but then slowly looses speed and hold again... Any thoughts?

That's an awesome and super clean looking Jimmy great score. Somebody took great care of it as can be seen. Did you get a decent deal on it? Don't have to go into exact details just curious
