NPD catalog

I just got the NPD ( National Parts Depot) catalog for 47 to 98 Chevy trucks. Lots of parts for our trucks, didn't have time to compare pricing or quality but they do have a good reputation.

Here is the link to the home page and where you can order a catalog

Anything that I've ever found cheaper at LMC is always more expensive once you add LMC's ridiculous shipping charges. Although I believe some of these places end up losing money with their shipping. Until you figure in the price of packing materials and boxes and of course the UPS/FEDEX/USPS rates it's not cheap.

They have a stellar reputation among "Mustang people." NPD and Glazier/Nolan are probably the top vendors for Mustang stuff in terms of quality and customer service. They're pretty good with birds and Camaros too.

I'm excited about this because the Ventura location is close to me. A nice Sunday drive up the 126. Mexican food and beer on the way home in Fillmore; I'm already looking forward to it! My son goes to school right near the Truck and Car Shop in Orange County, and I swore I would never step foot in that place again. Employees there seem to hate their jobs and treated me like I did not matter. I walked out and left the parts on the counter. I hope they are cool at NPD.

I've been to the Charlotte location several times. I've had good experiences every time I've gone there.

Just noticed their Michigan location is nearly in my backyard. I'll have to check them out, but their online pricing seems pretty good.

Does anybody know who the manufacturer of their sheet metal is?

Re: NPD catalog

I bought quite a bit of stuff from NPD over the last 10 years and was very satisfied with everything except one eyebrow trim on my 67 Chevelle. Everybody has the same issue for some reason.
NPD is hands down better that most of the rest in that they usually "have" in stock the pars they sell. Even if some come from this store and some from that one. Great folks to deal with.
Thanks for the info, ordered my catalog a couple minutes ago.

I'm planning on running over to the Michigan location in a couple of weeks or so and picking up my bumpers and a few other parts. Hopefully the quality will be good. I'm not sure what to look for as far as telling whether or not they compares to ones that anyone else sells but will report back on how they look after I go get them.

Re: NPD catalog

I checked out the prices for the 67-68 front fenders. The 67 fenders are $140 each, but there's 2 different 68 fenders, at two different prices. I believe the 67 fenders will work on the 68, minus the side marker light, which I'm not worried about. Am I wrong in assuming they'll work on my 68 without any issues?? Thinking about picking up a pair Saturday.

Wow, I've never had anything but good service at the Truck Shop. Parts are always in stock, prices are great. My go-to place for new parts. I'll have to check out NPD now too.

They lost me as a customer! I started ordering from brothers and GMC Pauls. In fact I ordered a bunch of parts last week... Some from GMC Pauls and some from NPD. But the NPD parts are coming from Florida so It will take a week. I hope that over the next year NPD in socal becomes well stocked. If I want something same week Brothers is in socal also.

Re: NPD catalog

Unlike a lot of Suppliers, NPD actually keeps their inventory "in stock" at their locations. That way, they can control their inventory and shipping times. It's very $ to keep inventory, so a lot of places drop ship their inventory from the supplier. You can't control your shipping times that way... your at the mercy of the supplier.

The truck line is new, so there will likely be some issues at first, and they're not just introducing 67-72, but an entire GM truck line. If you go online you can see what locations have the parts you want. I'd guess in 6 months or so they should be able to keep stuff in stock.

Florida is their "home office" and largest store/warehouse, so it makes sense FL would be fully stocked first.

Whatever random part I have ordered for my Mustang or Firebird projects, they've been "in stock" in the NC facility 98% of the time. I've spent *thousands* with them between my two projects. One time, a part and instructions were missing from a brake kit I bought from them. I was converting my 65 Mustang from non power single bowl MS (NOT SAFE!) to a dual bowl power set up. Their customer service was great. They OVERNIGHTED the missing piece and instructions from another kit from FL to SC even after I told them that standard shipping was fine. According to the box it was $30 for shipping.

Yes, I noticed the green check boxes or red Xs indicating where the parts where in stock, so I already knew parts were coming from Florida. So if you're in Socal and you order parts no matter where they're stocked then, NPD will use the stats and start stocking more parts.... I think!

I most likely wont be purchasing anything from them even though they are a couple hours from me. They don't carry GMC stuff or Blazer or Jimmy items????????????
