3 speed questions

Hello guys, i have a 1979 chevy shortbed with a 250 straight six and a 3 speed. i was wondering if any one know the serial number for these trannys. When i bought the truck the tranny was pulled and and there are to trannts in the bed both three sppeed both different but the same bolt pattern? Will a early c10 tranny work in it? thanks

Re: 3 speed questions

Can you post a pic?

The original three speed would have been a Saginaw (with one of two low gear ratios) and was essentially a passenger car transmission.

Do you do any highway driving with your truck? I have a lot of experience with 250 straight sixes, and may have some advice you can use.
