So do you have to plan the route to the campsite to avoid overpasses? :)

Those were popular during the time of bouffant hair-dos for extra headroom.

Somewhere in this forum lies a camper picture thread and this Kamp King Kamper was shown and discussed. I would be great for the races. These days that thing would need hand rails and warning signs all over with all occupants required to strap-in. They made non-pop-up models, too. I have other pictures but none are 67-72 GMs

Hey Boog, how about B-52 or beehive? I think we haven't and many not so youngins ever heard it because that style was on it's way out when these trucks came to be. It went from the boufant to the "flip"(except hippy chicks). Those '80s girls with "big hair" ain't got nothin' on a beehive. They used to sell hairspray in gallons and you used a Binks trim gun to apply. Boufants are the cause of the breakdown of the ozone layer. Humf, and they still try to blame the auto emissions.

How did you make out? Thanks for the concern. I figure a body best know where that ice was before the snow dusted it over. Going to be some broken bones today. This storm is brushing by to my south. The higher elevations are getting less than the coastal area.

Well G-maw was 47 years younger back then too so the climb might have been a little easier. Jim

Yeah that thing isn't top heavy or nothin. The commercial should be "is your truck as aerodynamic as a brick? Well then let's make it a brick wall!"

Now days, there would be a warning label for "no children on top of camper", much less sitting on laps with the chair legs 6 inches from the edge. LOL

But that would be awesome to have at Bakersfield Fomoso Raceway at the Match Meet or the Cacklefest in October.

I don't even know what to say? That is the craziest thing I have ever seen. 2 chains for handrails. I would fall off that thing. Truck probably gets like 5 miles to the gallon.

I've seen this picture passed around for a while now. I thought it was just a photoshop and dismissed it. Apparently, according to the link above, that top triangle deck somehow folds down flat on the roof.

Beehive
You remember way too much from the 60s Tim. 😉 I hate to see yall getting all that
snow over your way. Enough us enough.

We had snow over just the southern half of the state in the latest round of weather For a change. A country boy can survive though right?

I like the Del Ray campers. I found one about a year ago and didn't know what I was really looking at until it was gone! We have a Longhorn and have been looking for a period correct camper.

I don't know about you fellas, but I know one thing I like to do when I go camping, and that's indulging in some alcohol consumption..... my fat a$% would take a header right over those silly little chain hand rails.

Re: 67 with a unique camper pic

I go camping to get in touch with nature, not crawl up on top of the truck to get away from it!
