Console Lid Bumpers

Anyone know of a suitable alternative for the rubber bumpers that isolated the lid from the lower portion of the console?

Yep, my buddy (a GM tech) got me a package of GM glovebox bumpers. They have 'assorted' sizes in the pkg, but the stem for all of them is too small (the hole the bumpers seat in is 3/16").

I looked through McMaster Carr, but the ones I found that have close dimensions don't have enough 'gap' between the upper pad & the nipple that keeps the bumoer seated. The're made for thinner sheetmetal vs the OE ones made for the thicker plastic (approx 1/8").

Not too may 73-78 style consoles lingering around in wrecking yards in my area that would yield salvagable parts.

FYI.....

Key Parts Inc
p/n 0849-239 U

2x rubber bumpers @ $6 shipped. They snapped right in place but are slightly taller so the holding latch might need to be adjusted slightly.

SCOTI, that part number comes up as a battery hold-down for 67-72 from what I see. Do you have a link to what you bought?

I used reproduction glove box bumpers from an impala (I think) and trimmed down with a razor to get the height right. Metro Old Car World carries rubber parts for vintage cars...had bins to choos from (I live 5 min from them).

These are what I used. The Key Parts p/n is what was printed on the package.
