Where do these brackets go?
So I'm just a little confused as to where they go and also if there needs to be a spacers inbetween the tensioner? Doesn't look right. I know there was two brackets going to the alt I believe I just can't get one to work, doesn't line up however I try. Can someone take pictures of their truck to show me please.

This is how I had the one (orange arrow) hooked on the engine I had put in my 70 (parts from 94)
The yellow arrow piece goes on the last two intake manifold bolts on the passenger side of the engine. (for lifting the engine) It is not really needed. There may be a similar piece that goes onto the from two bolts on the driver's side of the intake manifold. Again used for lifting the engine. Some use the one on the drivers side to hold the throttle return spring. Again not really needed. I'll try and take a photo of my 94's factory setup and maybe that will help. I know there was one on my setup that went from the back opf the alternator to one of the intake manifold bolts (3 or 4 back), but I never put it on. |

The support you are trying to attach to the back of the alternator does not go to the alternator.
Put the lifting bracket in so the spacing is correct. |
Re: Where do these brackets go?
Here is a picture I took before I took everything apart, there are 3 brackets going to the alt, And I know there was one going to the tensioner through the hole but don't know if there was a spacer or not it doesn't look correct, the bracket has the marking of the nut.

Re: Where do these brackets go?
Sorry, yours is a different year with a different arrangement.
The photo I posted is of a 1993. The photos in the link that are posted by me are of a 1993. Your truck only has one air cleaner stud so I know it is older. Let us know what year your truck is so someone with that exact year can post some photos. |

Here some off my 94, but I think the pics chevytech pointed out are clearer.

Re: Where do these brackets go?
Whoops missed a post. Your brackets look like the steel kind used on the 88/89 models (might go a bit newer). Hopefully some one will come up with what ya need.

Re: Where do these brackets go?
I got the brackets figured out on the alt side but what about the tensioner? Is there just the one bracket that goes through the whole and is held by the bolt and nut that go through the tensioner?

Re: Where do these brackets go?
Ok guys I figured it out I just went out to the garage and checked and there was still a couple brackets in the box where I put everything in, I got it figured out thanks for the help. It's been over a month since I started this project and just hard to remember where everything went.

Re: Where do these brackets go?
Yea, luckily I took a picture and saw the brackets on the alt. just thought I had grabbed all the brackets and they were hiding behind plug wires and belt so it was hard to see them ha. Thanks all now I just need a new tensioner and coolant temp sensor and oil and water, the truck should start and hopefully it doesn't smoke after the new heads
