Just wondering if it is supposed to be chrome or black

As far as I know they were all Black.

I know for 67-68 they are black.
When the NP-205 came out mid 1969, the shift lever was chrome but not sure when the boot ring started being chromed. Most are black, even up to the mid to late 1970's.

They're all black from factory till later years
