LQ9 motor transplant help
Hey all,
I am not really new on the site but have been on a hiatus with my build. I am finally getting started. I have a 69 c-10 long bed. And i am about to drop a LQ9 with an nv4500 tranny behind it. My question is. Do I have to change the drive shaft to accommodate the extra ponies that were not there when it had the original straight 6 in it? Also does anyone have any recommendations on what exhaust manifolds will work on our trucks fo clear the frame rails? Any other advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. -Todd |

Im doin a long bed 67, and ive got a two piece driveshaft. With the big block in there, and a dual compound shaftline, Im wondering about the hanger bearing? You have a two piece?
Im looking into using a flanged tapered bearing, because of the angle, load, stress, etc. Might be something to think about. |

I know some popular ones are the trailblazer Ss maniflolds and +10 Camaro. If you need technical help or got some more ls based questions, try the lsx swaps sub forum under engine and drive train.

I do have a two piece drive shaft. and i debating on if that drive shaft is strong enough and if not can a one piece be put in its place. thanks for the advice.

Just sayin, in my case, my engine is offset 1" to the pass side of the truck. Dont know if the LS engine is the same.
Anyway, my point was that if a two piece is required use a really strong center bearing, pillow block, or flanged bearings can hold extreme amounts of pressure. I built a "Drive Unit" to take to a professional to duplicate with new parts, and balanced. Stock stuff is just that. |
