Weekend Road Trip Results
1967 GMC, 305 V6, 4 Speed Manual, 4.57 Gears,
HD Clutch, Small Back Window, PTO Dump Bed w/ Cattle Guards and Grain Chute Tailgate, No Rear view mirror, No passenger sun visor, it isn't perfect, but a nice survivor. Did I also forget to mention Barn Find w/ only 64K original miles and she's 90% rust free. (Passenger Rocker and Cab Corner) More pic's in my Siggy Linky :smoke: http://i831.photobucket.com/albums/z...psd8163204.jpg |
Re: Weekend Road Trip Results
Man, I haven't seen a post by you in forever!
Cool truck! |
Re: Weekend Road Trip Results
Welcome to the site!
Hey Craig, that's a super find. What are your plans? I would have traded you my wrecker when I was letting it go. I could use a dump body more and I'm a GMC guy! Right sides seem to fail faster. My theory is the crud all goes to the edge of the road and water runs down the side when it's nit draining properly. It seems right side ball joints go first, too. I figure high-crowns cause the weight to pitch on the right more and the road can be rougher along the edge from (look above) and just the fact that water gets under the edge and causes pavement to give out. didn't need to know all that? then why did you read it? |
Re: Weekend Road Trip Results
Lmao @'Tim's welcome. Yeah it had the reflector roadside
box in that corner still bouncing around, I'm sure that did not help that corner any. Fix minor issues and enjoy, may do more on down the road, I still need to finish my Blazer. |
Re: Weekend Road Trip Results

Nice looking truck. What plans do you have for it?
|
Re: Weekend Road Trip Results
Very nice ,its good to see all the 1 ton fun.
|
Re: Weekend Road Trip Results
Handy dandy and fun to run. No more to rhyme so I guess it's time...to go. <See what I mean? (to and go don't rhyme even though they are spelled the same, unlike toes and goes. follow me?)
EDIT: You said road trip, where did you have to go? |
Re: Weekend Road Trip Results
No major plans except to fix a few minor mechanical issues.
Truck was just outside of St. Louis, 1 hour each way to get my copilot, 4 hours each way from his place, and hour for loading her up, plus stops it was a long 12 hour day trip. |

Well had a few truck lovers over :smoke: and we
got a few things fixed. Starter was rebuilt and installed by me a month back, during my "Meet & Greet" we did the water pump, rebuilt the carb, and got her running like a big fat sewing machine on steroids  |
Re: Weekend Road Trip Results
I like it a lot. Looks like a truck. Was used as a truck. Still a truck. Gonna be a truck. What's not to like.
When I was shortening my 1 ton dually my buddy asked me "why don't you get rid of the one ton rearend"? I told him, "that's part of his (Homer) soul. You make this a single axle truck and he's just like all the other thousands and thousands of other trucks". I would not even consider it. That would be like taking away Fonzies cool factor. |

Yeah, cab lights added in early 70's to fulfill IL state requirements.
Kind of weird that a C3500 never came with them from the factory. I've been rubbing it out when time allows. Here's a small spot. |
Re: Weekend Road Trip Results
