53, 3800 safety brake kit won't fit
 

So I found this kit http://www.ebay.com/itm/151599874236...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT. and thought I would get one to put safety brakes on my 53 3800 DRW drum/drum truck.
After asking the seller, I think it is POL, they said it won't fit. Their application chart says "All 1953 Chevy Truck, All Trim, All Engine. Anybody agree or disagree? Is it the DRW's or are the wheels cylinders different? Maybe the bracket is wrong? I do not have a hydrovac or whatever the booster was called then. I asked them but no answer yet, wanted opinions here.

Well I asked three different questions and got three nearly identical canned responses from the seller, so they are no help in figuring out why it won't fit the 3800 DRW, if in fact it won't.

Their responses were all basically this with no other info even though I asked for specifics 3 times.

"Hello,
This kit will not work with your 3800 1 ton application.
Thank you."

I looked up the brake specs for standard pickup and yours. The standard uses a MC with 134 ci volume, larger truck 176 ci, much larger. Here is a copy of the page, look under the brake section. Wheel cylinders are larger too, make sense to allow for larger load capacity, bigger wheels and tires, etc. that affect braking.

I realized I have the 53 version of that book, but I only see the square inches for the braking surfaces. The actual brakes section is the only two pages that are not legible at all. I have the 3808 or 3809 truck.

So are all the 1 ton guys running around with single brakes or has someone done the swap to a dual MC? I would like to just swap to a dual cylinder for now and repair what is there where needed for now. I.E. Stock drum/drum, dual master, no booster. I am leaning toward a 14 bolt swap MUCH LATER.

I can make a bracket if I HAVE to, but if the bracket is the same from the 1/2 to the 1 ton, I'll get one and hopefully somebody knows the right MC to use on the 1 ton.

I have to admit, I am looking at the GM parts catalogs from the site you sent and I am getting more confused as I go. LOL. It doesn't help that from what I can see, Jim Carter completely ignores things like wheel cylinders for the 53 1 ton rear. The 1/2, 3/4, 1-1/2 and 2 ton seem to all be there though. Maybe I am blind

So,

Based on conversations here and what craigrep and wbrowne posted in another post, I ended up buying Napa part # NMC M1974 power master cyl and ordering the MCA4755 bracket kit from Performance Online (POL)

Ghostrider did not have any on hand, and I didn't want to wait. POL was $69.99 the other online units I found were $99.99.

I have not gotten any of it or installed any of it yet, but sound like it will work just fine.
